Hurricane Watch Reminders
Sep 16, 2023 -- Pending Storm Hurricane Lee
Dear Great North Managed Communities,
We hope this letter finds you well. We are writing to bring your attention to an important weather update regarding Hurricane Lee. This weather system has the potential to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds, particularly on Friday and Saturday. As many of you may already be aware, we have begun to receive flood warnings in several areas.
Considering this impending weather event, we strongly advise all unit owners to take proactive measures to safeguard their homes and personal property. To ensure your safety and minimize potential damage, we kindly request that you consider the following recommendations:
Secure Outdoor Items: Please take the necessary steps to secure all outdoor items, such as patio furniture, children's toys, and decorations. Bringing them inside or properly securing them will prevent damage or the risk of them becoming airborne in high winds.
Drainage: It is important to recognize that heavy rainfall may temporarily overwhelm drainage systems. If you encounter water accumulation beyond one (1) inch in common areas or pathways, we recommend avoiding these areas whenever possible. Additionally, if you notice any clogged drains or gutters, please report them to our maintenance team for prompt attention.
Personal Property: Heavy rain has the potential to impact your personal property. We strongly advise moving items away from windows prone to leaks or placing them on pallets or utilizing plastic containers in basements that are susceptible to flooding. It is also a good idea to take photographs or create an inventory of your valuable belongings for insurance purposes.
Roof Leaks: In the event of a roof leak, please exercise caution as roof repairs cannot be completed until the affected area has dried. Ensure that you have something to collect rainwater if your roof is prone to leak until the appropriate vendor can get to the property to address the situation.
Remediation: Due to the potential for floodwater and the need for safety precautions, please understand that some situations may not be fully remedied until after the storm has subsided. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. Our maintenance team will work diligently to address any issues as soon as it is safe to do so.
As a reminder, please be aware that the emergency service line should only be utilized for life safety or catastrophic property damage incidents. If you are experiencing any life safety or catastrophic property damage incidents, please call: (603) 436-4100 or your local Great North office number.
Your safety and the preservation of your community is our greatest concern. In the meantime, please stay informed about the latest weather advisories and consider following local authorities' guidance.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates if necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation, and please stay safe during this weather event.
Sincerely,
The Great North Property Management Team
